history

DAN-I-MATION is the brand name for award winning cartoonist DANIEL R. HILTON's unique brand of organized chaos. As early as I can remember, I have been obsessed with the arts, especially cartoons and comic book images. As time went by, my interest shifted from crayons and coloring books to markers and illustration boards. In 2005, at the age of ten, I began creating my first real comic book characters, which saw the earliest sparks of DAN-I-MATION. Since then, I have been working and creating stories, characters, events, and pieces based in and out of reality. Some pieces revolve around humor, either light-hearted or dark, where others are based on what's going on in the world, with a bit of a sinister touch. All of these images also star some of DAN-I-MATION's many unique characters such as P-Gash, Chicken Brooks, the F.U.P.D., and Macks Funare.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

DANIEL R. HILTON was born in 1994, in the small costal town of Neptune, New Jersey. Attending Passaic Valley Regional High School, I was a special presenter for the school's three day Art Show program all four years I attended the school. In 2012, my final year, I won the Silver Key award in the Scholastic Art Awards program for my entire portfolio. I was the only one in the region, let alone my school, to achieve this honor. Because of this, two of my best cartoons, "Happy Birthday, Michael" and "Fun Times," were hung in the Montclair Museum of Art in Montclair, New Jersey for a month. Another piece of mine, "Senioritis," was also hung in the museum, but at a different time. In June of 2012, I graduated from Passaic Valley High and was contacted by several art schools on continuing my education and was accepted to the School of Visual Arts in New York City. However, due to financial conflicts, I could not attend the school. In the Fall of 2012, I began the Fine Arts/Visual Arts program at the County College of Morris and will be graduating and earning my Associates of Fine Arts in Spring 2015. Afterwards, I am considering continuing my education at the Rocky Mountain College of the Arts in Colorado, or Montclair University in New Jersey.
